Global PT Day of Service *October 10th, 2020*

When we surveyed therapists across the country, most knew that October is National Physical Therapy Month.  Many, however, did not realize there is also a Global PT Day of Service during National PT Month.

Since 2015, PT Day of Service has brought together over 18,000 volunteers from all 50 US states and nearly 80 countries around the world.  Global PT Day of Service is a charitable organization started by two physical therapists in 2015.  It’s parent company, Move Together, is an organization dedicated to improving access to quality rehab medicine around the corner and around the world.

PT Day of Service is an initiative where physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and PT/PTA students, as well as those involved in or who support the Physical Therapy Profession, do an act of service on the same day.  The moments had and the connections made with each other can be shared around the world by using the hashtag #PTDOS.

This year, the 6th annual PT Day of Service is on Saturday, October 10th.  Philanthropy is about generosity in all its many forms, commonly referred to as gifts of “time, talent, and treasure”.  One of the ways to help support causes and organizations you are passionate about is by volunteering your time and talent.  On National PT Day we can serve and help our communities in those three areas.

Time & Talent

How does PT Day of Service work?

  1. Sign up to serve here
  2. Find a place to serve, either in your community or find a place via the PT DOS map
  3. Spread the word by telling your friends to make a pledge too!
  4. Serve! October 10th, 2020 (or as appropriate based on your community needs during the COVID-19 pandemic)

Treasure

Make a donation and support the effort to increase access to quality rehabilitative medicine with a financial contribution.

Global PT Day of Service is a perfect opportunity to remind ourselves why we got into this profession; Compassion.  Physical therapists are often drawn to the profession in part by a desire to help people.  Become a part of PT Day of Service as we join together to better the world!
