Dynamic Clinical Decision Support

Our unique system of alerts, clinical reminders, and real-time recommendations is supported by the best evidence-based care and current regulatory requirements.

Computerized clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) are information systems (software) designed to improve clinical decision making about individual patients. OptimisPT Clinical Decision Support is powerful tool that captures coded clinical information during examination and treatment and provides real time recommendations based on knowledge of evidence-based treatment at the point of care, highlighting relevant measures and interventions throughout the documentation process. It guides the clinician to perform a focused examination, determine an appropriate diagnostic classification, create a plan of care consistent with the patient's clinical presentation, select measures to assess the effectiveness of the care provided, and then code and document that care in a manner that optimizes billing.

The Clinical Decision Support system within OptimisPT, developed by Joseph Godges, DPT, in consultation with other leading clinicians, not only guides the therapist in the area of evidence-based practice, but is also used to guide documentation and coding that is compliant with payor policies and regulations. Our unique, first-of-its-kind system incorporates embedded alerts, documentation prompts, compliance checks, and coding/unit analysis, consistent with third-party payor rules, to seamlessly integrate these processes into the current workflow of busy clinicians by suggesting actions at a time when a clinician is still in the process of clinical documentation. For example, OptimisPT assists in creating compliant, measurable functional goals by providing the option to use either pre-written functional goals associated with the patient's identified activity limitations, or the ability to use our Goal BuilderTM for each region of the body, providing the clinician with phrase options for each of the components measured during examination (impairment, activity, and outcome) that must be connected to establish a well-written, compliant, functional goal to support the medical necessity of treatment.

Because OptimisPT is a web-based program, updates are made seamlessly as the evidence in the scientific literature related to clinical care evolves, and as payor policies, insurance provisions and regulatory statutes change.

OptimisPT Clinical Decision Support is a patient care and payor compliance tool that provides the flexibility to use it when you need it, and the reassurance that the experts are there to assist you every step of the way as you need it, in the most efficient and effective manner for your particular practice.
